Meet MGMS’s new resource officer

Dec 04, 2023 01:22PM ● By Gavin Nielson, MGMS fifth grade student

Deputy Nate Hutchinson grew up in Uintah, Utah. He went to Bonneville High School and then attended Weber State University.

Deputy Hutchinson wanted to be a cop from a very young age. “When I grew up, I never wanted to do anything else,” he said.

Hutchinson's favorite thing about being an officer is being in the action. He has been in many units as a police officer. Hutchinson said the scariest thing about being an officer is getting hurt or not coming home to his family.

Hutchinson has been a police officer for 23 years. After retiring as a lieutenant from Weber County, he joined the Morgan County Sheriff's office as Mountain Green Middle School’s recourse officer at the start of the 2023 school year. He said he is loving his time being a resource officer. Out of his 23 years of being an officer, this is his first time being a school officer.

Hutchinson loves shooting guns all day and getting paid for it. Since he was little his idol was Wild Bill Hitchcock. λ
