Dec 04, 2023 12:41PM ● By Braden NelsenMORGAN—The Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the University of Utah awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships/tuition waivers recently, and among the 140 students receiving those awards was Morgan County’s own Evan Dennis. A top-10 ranked program at the University of Utah, the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute offers along with many of these scholarships “the opportunity to gain leadership skills and experience while managing many activities for aspiring entrepreneurs.”
“We are proudly powered by students who receive scholarships to be leaders in our community,” said Troy D’Amborisio, executive director of the institute, and assistant Dean at the Eccles School of Business. “These students are getting a great experience managing our many programs and opportunities while also receiving support for their educations.”
Many students like Dennis will have the opportunity to serve as student leaders: managing different programs at the Lassonde Institute, including workshops, mentor sessions, and high school outreach. “Our students do everything from showing students how to use our 3-D printers to awarding grants to fellow student entrepreneurs,” Anne Bastien, program director at the institute said. “They are receiving meaningful experiences that will help them prepare for the future.”
Programs, like those offered at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, offer more than stereotypical classroom education, but rather an education that offers the students the opportunity for hands-on application of what they are learning. It prepares them more for life, and for future careers, in which they will be all the more prepared and well-equipped. λ
