Each year Mountain Green Middle School Students raise money for the PTSO to help fund activities. Students ask for pledges on how many laps they will make around the field, or donors can just give them any amount of money.

This year the students raised $13,319.76. Each advisory class that raised $  received a donut party. Because Mrs. Hammond’s fifth-grade class raised the most money, $1,575, they received chocolate milk in addition to the donuts.

The top three students with the most donations brought in received a Minki blanket. However, this year, like last year there was a two-way tie between sixth-grade sisters Franki and Jonni Wright for third place each bringing in $330. Fifth grader, Mila Behunin won second place bringing in $375, and in first place bringing in $570 was fifth grader Neil Whitting.

Each grade had a boy and a girl who were rewarded Amazon gift cards for the most laps run. Those winners were eighth grade: James Telford with 27 laps, with a three-way tie with 23 laps between Reece Crowther, Zoe Rockenfield, and Zoey Balser.

Seventh-grade lap winners were Beau Miller with 32 laps and Sophia Wimmer with 16 laps.

Sixth-grade lap winners were Miles Morris with 27 laps and Janie Steele with 23 laps.

Fifth-grade lap winners were Myles Kelley with 27 laps and Madden Willis with 26 laps.

With the money that was donated, the PTSO will be purchasing a Finch Robot for the fifth and sixth grades.

Once the robot is purchased, students in fifth and sixth grade can join an after-school Robotics Club to learn how to program it. The self-contained robot has the ability to draw on paper with a marker that is placed down the middle and will draw what it is programmed to do. Watch for more information to come from the school.

Other donations will help fund field trips and end-of-the-year activities. λ
