Jennie Durrant, a life long resident of Morgan Valley, graduated from Morgan High in 2007. She went on to get a bachelor’s degree in Athletics Training from Weber State University, graduating in 2011. She went on to work for BASIC Sports Medicine until she had her first child. In 2017 she worked part time at Mountain Green Middle School as a reading aide. The school then hired her to teach fifth grade while she worked on her graduate certificate in teaching. She graduated with her certificate from WSU in 2019.
Durrant taught fifth grade at Mountain Green Elementary for two years before moving to Mountain Green Middle School, five years ago, where she taught fifth grade math, writing, and reading for four years.
“I love working with children and watching them learn and grow throughout the school year,” Durrant said. “I love teaching because I get to work with awesome students every day. I also have great co-workers that make work fun.”
In April of 2023, Durrant earned her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership from WSU. “I will forever be a Wildcat,” she said.
Currently, Durrant is in her first year as the Instructional Coach at MGMS. “I wanted to be able to make an impact with the whole school and provide support for the teachers,” said Durrant about her new position. “I miss working closely with the students on a daily basis, but I am enjoying my new role and learning new things that will help me in my career.”
Durrant met her husband Stan in elementary school, living only a few houses from each other. They have been married for 11 years in this past September. Together they have three sons, Jake, 9; Zac, 7; and Colt, 4.
In her spare time, Durrant enjoys hiking, XC skiing, kayaking, traveling, and working out. She also enjoys riding in their side by side and snowmobiling. Her favorite place to visit as a family is Yellowstone National Park. They also love trips to Disneyland with her family. λ
