Morgan’s boys’ cross-country team put together a great strategic race to claim the Region 13 Championship. The Trojans’ junior EJ Lee (16:07.0) won the meet by 11 seconds over the second-place finisher followed by runners who placed 7th, 8th, 9th, and 12th to complete the scoring for Morgan. Sophomore Jonas Archibald turned in a 16:51.2 performance to claim seventh followed by junior Maverick Guymon (16:53.2) and freshman Drake Mecham (16:55.7) at eighth and ninth. Sophomore Henry Rose (17:03.0) finished 12th. Morgan’s sixth and seventh runners were Esplan McClellan and Tucker Giles.

“It’s great to see the boys run for each other and win the Region Championship,” Coach Brennen Fuller shared after the meet. “They work hard and push each other to achieve great things. We have a young team, and it’s exciting to watch the runners PR and grow.”

The girls scored 81 to Unions’ second-place 57 and Ogden’s first-place 26. Freshman Alexis Cox (20:46.2) earned a top-10 finish in ninth. Brooklyn Hill (23:12.4) placed 15th with Brooke Williford (23:47.7), Lindsay Birt (24:06.0), and Kiara Hayward (24:38.5) making the top 20 as 18th, 19th, and 20th!

Morgan will compete in the first round of the State Championships (Divisionals) on Oct. 10 at Lakeside Park in Orem.  The top teams and individual times at divisionals will advance to the state race that will be held at the Rose Park Complex on Oct. 24.


Boys’ Golf celebrates Region 13 Golf Championship!

After the Region 13 tournament Sept. 26-27 at Schnieter’s Bluff and Glen Eagle, the Trojans can proudly raise another Region 13 Golf Championship trophy!

The team finished second after two days of play at the Championship Courses Schnieter’s Bluff and Glen Eagle. Ogden shot 597 over two days while Morgan was four up (601), but they had enough of a cushion going into the final two rounds to win by 38 strokes (3374 to 3412), and in Points category, the Trojans triumphed over Ogden 59-56.5.

Three Trojans were named to the All-Region team: Lance Loughton, Zaylin McCleary, and Jackson Palmer. Loughton was also the Region Medalist with 625 strokes, finishing 10 ahead of Ben Lomond’s Cayson VanBeekum. The Trojan’s McCleary was third and Palmer finished 11th. 



Girls volleyball team receives #1 RPI Ranking in 3A 

With a 15-4 overall record, Morgan sits atop the 3A RPI rankings ahead of Carbon, Emery, Canyon View, and Union. The Trojans traveled to Roosevelt Tuesday, Sept. 26, and came away with a hard-fought 3-1 victory (25-23, 25-23, 20-25, 33-31!). Thursday, they hosted Ben Lomond for the annual Pink Night and scored a 3-0 win and an even bigger win in their fundraising efforts for cancer prevention.

During their battle against the Cougars, Morgan’s setters, Emma Thurston and Abby McKay handled the ball 135 times resulting in 51 kills!  Liv Jaffa led with 14, and Gentry Criddle added 12. Keira Brewer and Tori Smith added eight each while Josilyn Jaffa tallied six. Smith registered six assisted blocks.

Kamryn Randall (11) and Hadlee Ovard (10) combined for 21 service points with the team serving 94% on the night only missing six serves out of 102! 

Defensively, Criddle led with 24 digs followed by Ovard with 17, Jerstyn Payne with 14, and Thurston with 11. On serve receive, Criddle passed the ball 39 times with only one error and Ovard was a perfect 25/25!

In the Ben Lomond game, Thurston served 16 points with two aces while Criddle added 13 points with three aces. Criddle also led in serve receive with six. Jaffa tallied 11 kills while Smith recorded nine. Brewer contributed seven kills and Hadlee Goode six.

The Trojans took on the Cowboys Tuesday in Grantsville and will play in the Green Canyon tournament this weekend.  Senior Night and their final home game will be Tuesday, Oct. 10 against South Summit with their final regular season game at Ogden on Oct. 17. State will be held Oct. 25-26 at UVU.



Girls Soccer beats Grantsville for second time 8-0, hosts Senior Night

Morgan wrapped up their season Tuesday, Oct. 3 with a final home game and Senior Night against Ben Lomond. Last Thursday, Sept. 28, the Trojans took down the Cowboys 8-0.

Scoring five goals in the first half and three in the second, Morgan shut out Grantsville for the second time this season, 8-0. Goalie Miya Turner got the shutout and several players got in on the scoring. Lacie Poll and Macie Burton tallied braces while Kaydence Wardell, Kapree Charlton, Amy Thomas, and Kendall Petersen added goals. Poll and Burton each added two assists.

The 3A State Tourney Bracket Reveal will be Thursday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. The Trojans will learn who they face first and whether or not their nemesis Ogden will be on the same side of the bracket as they are.


Girls Tennis State Championships Oct. 6 and 7

Morgan began play at Liberty Park in the 3A State Tennis Championships Friday, Oct. 6, and will conclude Oct. 7.  With participants in all five events, Morgan is strongly positioned to bring home excellent results. Savannah Dutson and Sophie Rabe received No. 3 seeds at 1st Singles and 2nd Singles. At 3rd Singles, Macey Dee claimed a second seed. In Doubles, both teams were named four seeds. Willa Anderson and Kaitlyn Carter will play 1st Doubles with Carys Morgan and Isabella Dickman.  λ
