Gloria Rivera was born in Southern California. After graduating from Ben Lomond High School, she attended Weber State University, Utah State University, and Western Governors University. She is currently taking courses at Southern Utah University. Rivera has an Associates in Arts, a Bachelors of Arts in Education (Interdisciplinary Studies), and a Masters in Education, Instructional Design.

Rivera started her teaching career 23 years ago teaching in private, charter, and public schools. Having taught elementary, middle, and high school students, she admits her favorite grade to teach was sixth grade.

“I decided to become an educator because I LOVE learning. I never want to stop,” said Rivera. “There is nothing better than being in the classroom and helping others grow. In my life, I have found that the love I feel for education was sparked by an educator. I strive to leave a legacy that has sparked a love for education in others.”

Currently, Rivera is in her first year as the Instructional Coach at Mountain Green Elementary School. “My hope in this position is to impact the teachers and staff in such a way that my love for teaching will become contagious, said Rivera. “The teachers and staff at Mountain Green Elementary School are phenomenal and I am thankful every day for their love and devotion to the students they teach.”

Rivera, who met her husband at church, has been married for more than 30 years. Together they have five “amazing” children.

In her spare time she loves to travel, “and when I can’t physically travel I travel through novels.” λ
