MHS Theatre Department presents ‘Little Women’ The Broadway Musical

Morgan High School Theatre Department has been working hard since the first day of school to put together the first of two musicals. 

“Little Women The Broadway Musical,” is based on the Civil War Novel about love and family, written by Louisa May Alcott. “Little Women follows the March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy along with their neighbor, Old Mr. Laurence and his grandson Laurie. Professor Bhaer and Mr. John Brooke add an additional element of romance to the musical. 

After having her book rejected by yet another publisher, Jo March in encouraged by Professor Bhaer to write about herself. Joe weaves a story about herself and her sisters that transports the audience back to Concord Massachusetts during the Civil War. 

The cast members working hard to bring this beautiful production to the community are Shannon Kobe as Jo March, London Elmer as Amy March, Clara Stone, and Beth March with Ashlyn Turner as Marmee. 

Additionally, Caden Standing will portray Professor Bhaer, Brandon Hone as Mr. Laurence with McEdge Dorius as his grandson Laurie, along with his tutor John Brooke played by Preston Johnson, and Winter Jones as Aunt March.

Rounding out the cast is the all-important ensemble members: Emma Wright, Ilana Felt, Liam Johnson, Spencer Kobe, Dyson Turner, Courtney Ellis, Kasha Carpenter, Katelyn Farnsworth, Jaqsyn Rudd, Davis Erickson, Jackson Farmer, London Haddock, Cate Compton, Mara Lewis, Ashley Burt, Alexis Burt, and Kaitlyn Johnson.

Director, Jennifer Fritz, who puts in countless hours both inside and outside of school to stage this show, also designed the set and brought the cast to life with colorful time-period costumes. Rudy Cordeiro, as Music Director, also worked hours to perfect the voices of the cast.

“Little Women,” which is a family-friendly show for all ages, is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) and will be performed in the new MHS auditorium Nov. 15,16,17,18,19 and 20 with all shows starting at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advanced at mhs.morgansd.org.
